The Countdown

My beautiful wife and I (and James) are leaving for New York in nine days. U2 in Madison Square Garden is just 11 days away!!! Interestingly enough, I found out today that I should get a call on Thursday in regards to a possible job opportunity and that interviews for that job are supposed to take place on the day we leave.... I'm trying to figure out how that is supposed to work. I'm hoping that they will be able to interview me on a different day. We shall see!

Hey,
I ran across this blog of yours/family and I am just wondering if by any slim chance, would you be THE Nick Askew who went to Rancho Middle School in Irvine, then Woodbridge for High School??? If so, I can't believe it! While surfing blogs with God and Family, I run into your blog! Wait...maybe you are not THE Nick Askew I'm thinking of...hmmmm....

Oh WOW! Small world! Okay, think 7th Grade....ready....Shia Khanal, I went by my middle name then, now it would Shrina Shia Bivens (married). You were like my 2nd boyfriend in 7th grade :0)!LOL! If you remember, I am from Nepal, so I was raised Hindu. But I'm happy to say, I started going out with a Christian in Junior year in University High and he brought me to Christ. He is now my husband of 7 years (married @ 20!) We have been together for more than 10 years! I am the only one in my entire family who is a Christian. So you went to Biola eh? I was very close to moving back down (from Northern Cal where Rodney and I went to college for our B.A's)to go Biola for my graduate school for Pastoral Counseling. My favorite Christian Psychologists/authors, Henry Cloud and John Townsend went to Biola for their grad work as well. Last minute, we decided to move to Portland, OR (where we've been living for the last 4 years since college graduation) because of my husband's work, he is a Financial Analyst. I work for our church, www.ourplacechurch.com a non-denominational post-modern, missional church. You know, I remember meeting your mom and your nephew? then, in 7th grade(!)and that was one of my very first interatioin with Christians. I think God was using people wayyy back to plant seeds. I am totally floored that I found your blog! How cool is that? BTW, what a beautiful family you have. We don't have kids yet, perhaps in a year or so. We are building our 2nd home right now with lots of kids in mind :).
Many Blessings to you Nick!

Holy Cow Shia! Of course I remember you!!!! I even remember "our song" was Timmy T's one more try. How crazy is that! I am so stoked that you became a christian. How amazing!!! You're related to some sort of royalty in Nepal, right?
So why the first-name change?

I'm a big fan of the boundaries series, BTW. Cloud and Townsend are great!

Good to hear from you!!!!!
